Front Brake Rotor Removal

Help! I tried to remove my front brake rotors today but it was definitely stuck. I already removed the calipers and everything. I even tried the screw method, but when I stuck a bolt in there and spun it, it just kept going and going.

Am I forgetting something awfully easy? I even tried to get my cousin, who plays football in high school and lifts a lot (strong guy) to pull the rotors off, it just can't be done. Is there anything else holding it in? Thanks a lot.

Sounds like you are forgetting the BFH

^ Yeah, the BFH would work, just place a piece of wood between the two to prevent damage to the hammer.

spray some pb blaster on the bearing area and around the lug area then let it soak for a few minutes. Then take your BFH to it.

BFH?... Big freakin' Hammer? haha... but if i hit the rotors with a hammer, am I pretty much destroying the rotors?

Also, If i spray PB Blaster (will WD-40 work as well? I got that already) on the bearings (i'm assuming that's the very center of the hub) and the lug area, won't i make that area pretty slippery?

Don't hit it HARD.

Just light to medium taps around the perimeter of the hub to loosen it up.

I'm not sure if it's on the front, but there should be threaded holes around the hub. If you screw in the right bolts, it'll help you pop off the rotor.

I believe the screw thing is only on the rears, but I could be wrong. Definitely just use a hammer bro...especially if your replacing the rotors, just whack that thing, but yes, if your re-using, put a 2x4 up against the rotor first. My maxima, I had to give a few good whacks to it before it would budge.

yeah you will damage the rotors, but if your replacing them it shouldn't matter. If you plan to machine and reuse..... stick a 2X4 in between the hammer and the spot where you are hitting the rotor.....I had this same problem with my rear rotors, I tried WD-40 and I didn't get anywhere. Used some PB blaster and within 5 minutes my new rotors were on the car, oh and yes the bearing area is the center. Just a squirt on each of the lugs and around the bearing cover. Let it soak and whack away.

Thank you guys. I will give it another try when I got the time. I will try to get some PB Blaster because most of you guys seem to say WD-40 doesn't work. I'll also be less scared to hit my rotors with a hammer, haha.
