as per the locked thread... the main diff in the 99 and 00 is the 99 is cheaper... you can buy a REALLY nice stereo from the price difference ;)

Eh? I wanted to know the differences between the SE and the SLE, because my SE has leather, power seats, power moonroof, automatic headlamps, the premium JBL stereo with high mid and low adjustments, and pretty much any baller luxury addon except for climate control and heated seats.

The real difference is that the SE did not come standard with leather, moonroof, etc., whereas the SLE came with all of those.

That being said, IIRC, a fully loaded SE is basically a SLE without automatic climate control.

Why is that so weird? You have a SE with some options selected, whereas the SLE has those and more as standard equipment.

Yeah, but it didn't come with climate control HVAC nor did it come with the third coin tray below the hvan (no not the ashtray)...the SE guys have no clue cus they don't have it..the SLE guys know what i'm talking about. The third coin tray is the mark of a true SLE versus SE. (this is all old skool learning from missay - anyone else remember that lil' beauty??)

Haha, sweet thanks! I also noticed last night at the TN GTA East meet that SLEs have additional wood trim. My SE only has the wood stripe on the doors and a bit of the dash, and this SLE had full wood trim.

There is no additional wood trim on the SLE. Any additional wood trim is aftermarket.

For 99, I believe the climate control is the only feature on the SLE that isn't available on the SE. And manual is the only feature available on the SE that isnt available on the SLE. Also, none of these had heated seats. I dont think that feature came in the Solara until 2002.

There are a few other differences, but i think the rest are optional on the

For the 99:

The SE came with 15" steel wheels standard, but most came with 15" alloys or 16" alloys as an option.
SLE came with 16" alloy wheels too.

SE came with the I4 and optional V6. SLE came with V6.

SE came with manual and upgradable to auto. SLE is auto standard.

SE came with Cloth and upgradable to Leather. I think the SLE came with leather standard, including wrapped steering wheel and shifter.

SE came with no spoiler. SLE had spoiler standard.

And as mentioned, SLEs get auto climate control standard, SEs get manual HVAC with no option for auto.

SE had standard radio with CD and cassette with optional JBL single disc. I think the 99 SLE had the single disc JBL standard.

in 2000, the standard radio changed (The new radio has a smaller text readout, but functionally similiar.) Also they had a new 6-disc JBL optional for SLEs. A few colors got swapped out - the black is different from 99 to 2000 (its a plain metallic black in 99, its a pearl in 2000) and the gold is different (Sandrift to Gold Dust).

And of course, half way through the year, they had a new drop top.
