My modding progression thread

Postby OneCleanLarA » Tue Dec 28, 2010 5:23 pm

Hello fellow soalra owners, my mom bought this 2002 i4 solara brand new and since it was passed down onto me i thought i would finally start modding her and btw it has 92,000 miles i kept it very clean.

I bought a K&N intake for 320 + tax at autozone and it was delivered today, putting it on tonight so i will continue to post as things start being put together. I made this thread to help see the progression from stock and to get help if i should need it between the way.

I also am buying yellow nyko light bubls for the fog lights i heard they don't work but i looked it up on youtube and they worked for somebodys vw so they should turn on good for me to i hope. those will be ordered within the week.

Thanks for looking and i'll continue to update the more i mod! glad to be here

I always check eBay and Amazon for prices before I buy. it's good for reference at the very least.

I look forward to seeing how your mods go! I'll be staying tuned, for sure.

Update 1/2/2011**

Hey guys so a couple friends and I installed it on 12/30/2010. Was fairly easy to install without really any major problems along the way. You don't notice any sound changes until you hit around 3100 rpm. At first i noticed not at much performance change at first but the more i drove it within the past week the better it feels. Throttle response it a lot quicker, when I went on the highway i floored it and it used to start off slow and then just jerk and take off which i', guessing is the vvti kicking in but now it just instantly wants to go at all times and it feels so much more powerful so i would definitely recommend it but try to shop around and find a good price before you make any purchases unlike me but i still don't mind because it was money well spent and driving under a bridge or through a tunnel and just hearing it sounds orgasmic to your ears.

Next are the infamous yellow fog lights, i'll put the order in for them tomorrow. I'm getting them at http://www.tunersdepot.com/Lighting/Headlight-Bulbs/Nokya-Arctic-Yellow-Fog-Light-Bulbs---02-03-Toyota-Solara--9006-frasl-HB4--33357.html if any one is interested.

I will install them as soon as they are delivered and hopefully get a drive by video posted when it is a little warmer outside. But until then Happy Modding and Happy New Years!

Wow.. those bulbs are expensive... for another $25 bucks - Which includes shipping I can get you some nice yellow HID's.

However if you are looking for any direct bulb replacements I sell Hyper White and Platnium bulbs as well. Price is around $14.00 shipped.

You can get those same Nokya Yellows on eBay for about $12-15 shipped. I've bought several sets.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

don't forget the lifetime warrenty! :D

But the only downside is that the 3k looks more of a pale yellow then those true yellow on those lexus unless you tint the fog other than that, they good ;]
the nokyas however will give you that deep yellow

you should however, post up a video of you driving to give us a taste of that orgasmic sound :D
safely of course, don't want you wrecking your baby from recording!

keep up the good work!

All I will add to this is: Do NOT leave your fogs on full time w/your headlights w/those Nokya bulbs, unless you enjoy melting your harnesses.
