Exhaust for Solara Megan or TRD?

Exhaust for Solara Megan or TRD?

Postby cocopuff2u » Sun Aug 23, 2009 6:06 pm

i got down to 2 things,
TRD makes a exhaust i found on
http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.p ... rts_id=214
Good Price
I found a Megan Exhaust
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/perform ... st_Systems
And
http://www.meganracing.com/products/pro ... 4&catid=90

Which of the 2 would be Louder?
Also if i replace my exhaust i see in the one from the Megan site i replace my Catalytic converter Should i go for that one? Does it make a sound difference? Performance difference? Or if should i get just like the Megan from HPF without the Catalytic Converter?

Random question my car is to low to the ground what would be the price for like jiffy lube to put in my new exhaust? Last time i did it myself it was in a RX8 lifted by the jack also a concrete block and the jack broke and the block moved and i almost lost my head.

SEARCH is your friend #1 there is a lot of threads on here already about exhaust setups. Check out Midas he has a really nice custom set up.

a. the megan would be louder

b. It doesn't replace your catalytic converter its just a muffler. The megan is from your catalytic converter back.

c. performance.. i wouldn't know on either some one will help me on that.

d. it really depends i got mine welded and put on for around $50

e. id get a better jack and not use a brick, its worth the money why risk getting hurt or even killed.

I'm on the same boat as you, deciding if i should get the trd or the megan drift spec.

Right now, im leaning towards the megan side because i think the trd one is just a little too quiet for me. From my research, the megan exhaust is much louder and has a deeper tone.
Fellow SG members please correct me if im wrong!

Also, does anyone have MORE sound clips of the megan exhaust on the solara?

How about which one performs better?
I could care less how it sounds, to a point.

If u want the TRD muffler, contact ASG14. He has one for sale, and I think they are not available at dealerships any more?

A catback is going to perform slightly better than a bolt-on muffler since it replaces some of the actual piping. Honestly, the TRD muffler and the Megan could not be more opposite. A bolt on muffler with a small tip and a large body vs. a catback with a large tip and an angled body... the decision should pretty much be based on what you want it to look like, since these are two totally different looking exhausts.

^ agreed I could see megan drift vs greddy or megan OE vs OBX or TRD. But they are very different products.

If you are looking for more of an import tuner look go for the drift. Otherwise the TRD is probably the way to go.
