TRD spring breaks

TRD spring breaks

Postby Spuds16 » Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:45 pm

My friend has an 05 Solara and had the TRD springs installed about 2 years ago and one of the front springs broke. He went and bought the Eibach prokit and I installed them on his ride today and they ride really good. Anyone thinking about these springs should not buy them. I have never seen anything like this happen before and would never purchase anything from them because they have not done their enough homework. I'm gonna send these pics to toyota and demand they should do something for him.

As ^ said. TRD Springs are MADE by Eibach anyway.

My friend's TRD spring on his '02 Solara just broke. But eh, I blame thta on the NYC roads for 80k miles.

Times two on blaming the road salt. Rust is the enemy.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

I think those are fake Eibachs. Because Eibach gives 1 000 000 miles warranty and I've seen springs that were rolling for years in Moscow, Russia which is famous for Luzhkov's winter road agent. They have metallic paint coating that resists everything you might think of. Fake springs don't.

Unfortunately, we are one in the same. My mechanic is just trying to help me out...he wasn't aware that I already posted about it...

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical about the whole "Eibach makes TRD springs" rumor. The point you make about warranty is a good one. The TRD warranty is 12 months/12k miles (http://www.trdusa.com/warranty.cfm). The Eibach warranty is a million miles (http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe/08 ... 5100008560). WTF. Not only are the Eibachs coated with what appears to be much better paint, but they also have protective sleeves around them. The TRD's look completely different (I just replaced my cracked TRD's with Eibachs).

Also, not that it means anything whatsoever, but TRD does go out of their way to make it seem like they engineer their own parts....

Eibach does not make TRD springs. Toyota makes them. If eibach made them then all of the toyota trucks with the upgraded suspension it would say eibach on the side of their truck not TRD.

Outside vendors make TRD parts for toyota. Toyota does not make parts for TRD. Eibach=TRD.

Not remotely true. Almost all TRD parts are made by another manufacturer. TRD buys the parts from them and redistributes them under the TRD name.

Another reason why fat chicks aren't allowed in my car lol jk. Yeah I don't know how that happened exactly; probably NYC roads, and the salt, and my driving, and maybe a fat chick but that was only once and it was very, very long ago :P. Anyway, I'm actually going to replace it today with Adam.
