Installed weapon R intake and throwing codes

Postby Spuds16 » Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:30 pm

I'm new to this forum and Toyota's but am currently working on a friends 05 solara V6. I installed a weapon R short ram intake and I'm confused on where the vacuum lines should go. The directions said I should hook up the Vacuum lines to the T supplied but it was way to big. He told me that he read that the 2nd vacuum line should be plugged. I plugged the one I thought was the 2nd line but after driving it for 2 days it threw 2 codes, P0171 and P0174 witch is bank 1 to lean and bank 2 to lean. I'm pretty good with cars and rebuilt my Eclipse 3.0 GT that is running a single T3/T4 turbo and had no problems with. I never had this occur by just a simple intake install. I looked at the diagram on the hood and there is more then just 3 vacuum lines that I dis connected. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I also had to change out his TRD springs to the Eibach Prokit because one of his springs broke in half which I have never seen happen before. I will start a thread on that (pics included) because I have never seen that happen before and I think that TRD should give and explanation on that not to mention some kind of refund.

Tell your friend to go buy a name brand intake (i.e. Injen or CP-E)

Also, post in the right forum.

Weapon R works fine. If you need a smaller T advance auto parts carries a wide variety.

Welcome to SolaraGuy. I don't have any suggestions for you, but
I'm sure there will be plenty forthcoming. Since, I see , this is only
your second post, it's perfectly understandable that you have posted
your question about a Gen2 in the Gen 1-1.5 forum. I'm sure you
will get the hang of it soon enough. Please don't be offended or
discouraged by any rudeness you may encounter from anyone. Jimmm

I didn't know his was a 2nd gen sorry. I came on here for help not to be bashed. At least I searched before I posted. I'm gonna get a smaller T and see if that works. Thanks to the people that wanna help. Oh and weapon R makes a good product and wouldn't sponsor different cars at road racing events if they weren't any good.
