while I do notice that a majority of Solara drivers around my area are females, I've never thought of it as a girl's car. But SG members have brought up several times that people refer to their car as 'girl cars'. now i'm feelin a bit self-conscious!

round here, celicas and rsx's are girl cars. everytime I see some asian guy bumpin his techno or chinese rap in one of those cars I smirk to myself and think "ha! girl car."

My (mostly stock) 1999 SLE has always been the best car out of all my friends... but my new roommate won a '99 pontiac grand prix GTX at his post prom party. I'm pretty sure he would beat me in a straight line, but is there anything I can brag about against his car? He has black on black with leather and ram air scoops... its real nice, and I hate feeling inferior.

Personally, I'm not a Pontiac fan, so I'd take a Solara over a Pontiac any day. The real question is, would you? It sounds like you kind of like his car. Do you like it better than your own or is it just that his is newer?

My wife's Solara has 213,000 miles on it and still gets 29 mpg on the highway. I did some work on it, but just maintenance stuff and the thing doesn't smoke or anything. We take good care of it and it looks very nice. I just don't see a Pontiac GTX still on the road with that kind of mileage.

Something you can do to show him up would be to do something new on your car. What is the one thing you don't like? Maybe the rims are getting tired, get yourself some new shoes and every time you come outside to hop in your car, you'll smile. Or maybe a sound system upgrade. Hell, just detail it nicely and it will seem new every time you see it all clean. That's my philosophy. Every time I start thinking about moving, I rearrange the furniture instead and it's amazing the psychological effect it has. Do that for your car.

Good luck and never, never be jealous of a Pontiac.

But if he shows up in a Mercedes or something, well, just post up again and we can talk about it some more.

I have a new flowmaster muffler and a pioneer headunit. In the mail due to arrive any day now are a dual chrome exhaust tip, TRD RSB and an Injen SRI.
