Just take the snorkel off behind the fuse box.
You just have to:

1. Take the air box out.
2. Take the battery out.
3. Open your fuse box next to the battery and air box, and use 10mm box wrench, there's only 2 bolts.
4. Then once you the get the bolts loose, pull the fuse box out abit, and then there should be another 10mm bolt that hold the snorkel to the car.
5. Unbolt that bolt that holds the snorkel.
6. Pull the snorkel out.
7. Put everythin' back like fusebox, battery, and airbox.

After you have everythin' like the airbox, battery, and fuse box bolted back up, go for alittle drive and you'll notice the sound better.

LOL thats wat i thought hahaahah when engineer make the car they did alot of research/test/think for safety/protection/prevention, even Injen SRI do heavy test on their SRI, what make u think to mod ur car this way ? any cheap homemake mod would work for awhile but it wont last forever well for Solara gen1.1.5, nothing is for free. It is ur choice though, i just wanna state out some info.

Okay, completed. I still have to paint it I just wanted to test it out. Is this right? I didn't notice a whole lot of extra sound. I guess i'll remove the snorkel too.

I connected the brass fitting to the vacuum tube thing like on the original resonator. Was this wrong? Here is a pic.

Looking good man. hey, if your daring enough and have a dremel, you could cut the filterbox completly off. Just cut it at the the very edge of it where it hooks into the intake, right before it turns into the square shape, and a regular cone performance filter on to flow more air. Same benefits of an aftermarket SRI intake PLUS no heat soak! (metal intakes actually transfer heat into the air coming in)

OK, so when i first got my lara before i knew much about intakes i did this with good results- i removed the lower half of the air box and made a clip to hold the filter to the top half just by doing thet it got noticably louder and it felt less restricted

Here it is on the car. The vid is uploading now. 2.5" PVC from Lowes - $10, .5" Threaded Brass Fitting from Lowes - $3. Total of about 20 bucks after paint and about an hour and a half.

Video! Let me know if you think it sounds better. BTW I only revved to 3K (0:14 i think). My parents were upstairs sleeping and I didn't wanna wake em up. Don't flame, I'm 16 I'm allowed to live w/ my parents. :D I'll get a better vid tomorrow and I'll also probably take off the snorkel or do a filter box mod.

Exactly what I was wondering. It pisses me off. I'm gonna do something about it tomorrow. It barely sounded different to me at all.
