There will definalty be more noise, and Its very plausible that you would gain like 1 or 2 hp although I make no promises, because fluid dynamics also applies to air, and The intake silencer has 2 chambers in it, and the shape of the box causes the sound waves to "bounce" around and cancel themselves out. This causes turbulence, which reduces the ability of the "fluid" to flow. My sugestion would be to take a 5-6 inch long piece of 2 and 3/4 inch black pvc (or just paint regular pvc black) and insert it where the silencer was, just reuse the stock couplers, or replace theme with nicer ones. whatever you want.

While you are it, you could use a hole saw and cut a 3 inch hole in the bottom of the filter box, to flow more air into it. You could also paint the whole thing whatever color your engine bay theme is, Personally I would paint it RED.This mod is CHEAP or even free, if you already have some pvc and other materials. Im considering doing away with my cheapo-ebay intake, since the piping is .25 inch too big and its causing me to run rich. For now, I may go this route, until i find a good tunable CP-e setup.

You can remove the intake snorkel behind the fuse box, and you'll get more sound.

Sorry to be a noob and make people repeat things but is there something I can simply remove from the airbox to get more sound? I don't care about power I just want a quick cheap mod to get some sound. Pictures wouldbe nice too.
