I have the same problem....it's "normal".
The automatic gearbox forget to shift back.
If you started with 0mph you beat him. (the gear box have no problem then)
A next time, you must try to put it manual in 2th gear, the you will take him. (don't forget to put it in "D" when you hit about 5000rpm.....at 6000rpm it will shift to the next gear)
And clean all sensors...i used break cleaner. ....don't shoot me for that.
I was on a holiday when my car acting weird...only thing i had with me was break cleaner. After that my car drives better/stronger then ever(....but i still have that shifting problem)
And don't forget, your car is almost 10 years old...engines are getting stronger. (yesterday i almost lost from a tuned Seat Cupra ......and i have got a supercharger)
good luck at the next run
