How are you going to trade a 'i4/v6 hybrid' (lol) for a gen 2? I don't think anyone would want that car. + it's been in an accident + its an auction vehicle (more than once according to tresola). good luck with it.

Private party it. Actually, I'm not sure how close dealers look at the title and especially under the hood. Dealers will sell accident cars; I liked one of the tCs at a dealership but saw an accident on the title. I told the dealership about it and they were shocked actually. I didn't see the car very long after that, so I think they got rid of it off their lot. Autocheck is such cheap insurance when car shopping!

As for the mechanical inspection, I know the last couple of times I looked to trade in they looked at the car, looked at the engine, test drove it and gave an offer. Its very easy to hide the I4/V6 problem I'm sure.

That sounds really bad man....I don't even know what advice to lend you.

Looks like it's one of those cars that should've been thoroughly checked out before it was purchased. On the other hand though....wait till you get some more opinions before you jump into selling her.

It's always been an I4, please read page 1 all the way through. You went to a crappy mechanic, it happens... and I have no idea what the pics are showing.

If this continues please put this thing under the bridge

Wow, thats really weird... And its listed as a 4cyl from the vin...

tresola wrote:I looked up the title with my Autocheck subscription, and the only bad thing was an accident with a parked vehicle: 06/25/2000 FL State Agency LEFT SIDE IMPACT WITH A PARKED VEHICLE. The car was reported as an auction vehicle a few times as well. If you want the full autocheck report, shoot me your email and I'll send it to you.

Can You check mine also? I would REALLY appreciate it :D

Where'd you get the VIN from? The door jamb or from the dash?

Either way, you can't take the shops advice TOO seriously. Just think that something is not right, keep investigating if you want to keep car or trade for a new one.
