Before any flaming goes on... I know this is crap... its a noise maker, blahblah..

http://cgi.ebay.ca/AIR-INTAKE-FILTER-19 ... 240%3A1318

Im not ready to invest 500$ on an intake...

My question is, will this intake have some (im not expecting much) improvement over the stock box?

I have a feeling that it will since the stock filter looks like it is sufficating.

it's only 70$... as long as it does no harm to my car or sensors I would like to get it.

What do you guys think? any bad side effects of having this on?

I have the same exact set up.. Only mine is red (was originally blue, didnt match so i painted it) Image
Overall it did make a slight performance gain, Butt dyno reads about 5-8 or so HP lol After the install My engine was running rich and I assumed it was because of the intake, but it turned out to be a bad MAF. I have since replaced the maf and it runs great. A sugestion though, if you buy this, the original bolts that hold the maf onto the stock intake will not fit. The shoulder is too wide, about 1/8 of an inch to be exact. I just used a cutoff wheel on my angle grinder and gently grinded it down a bit.

No it will only be louder than stock. I actually lost 3mph consistently on my standard speed test street. I also had all sorts of weird hesitation problems. I would rate this intake at -5hp, but the noise will make you think you are getting more. Also most of them don't have enough holes so you have to drill an extra for a vacuum hose. You will gain more power with a K&N drop in. This intake has been discussed to death it is about as good as those damn IAC chips that do nothing. The pipe diameter on this intake is way off and will mess up your MAF sensor making you run lean. For the 1mz MAF if you want an intake without a piggyback you need 2.75 inch pipe.

I have had almost every kind of intake for this car and here is how I rate them from worst to best.

Ebay intake
Stock
K&N drop in

HKS SRI with CAI extension

I didn't know that HKS made intakes for our cars.

You should just save up your money and get either an Injen or a CPE.

The K&N is simply a drop-in washable element that replaces the paper one in your airbox; everything else stays OEM. The Injen unit replaces the stock airbox with aon open-air element and metal piping.

hmm, aint metal a conductor of heat doing so the heat from the engine will heat up the metal pipe which makes the heat thats being sucked, warm up... which you really doing is helping your car breath more hot air, i'm thinking, why don't auto makers use these pipes, and i could be right on this

Well said! Keep your money for gas or something until something good comes for sale.

I thought the biggest reason was metal is much more expensive same with new plastic manifolds.

Is that a stock resonator box in your setup? If it is, good one!
