Hey guys i need your help on this one cause i never experiance or tempted this...

anyone tryed or is rolling with catless dual exhaust ? I wanted to know if there is any issues with passing the tubing in the exhaust area... of cuase im talking about a true dual exhaust from headers to back..and i was wondering if you were to X cross your exhaust what it would change.. i know it takes out a bit of the raspiness but does is give you low end power torq or something ?

thank you

You should be able to fit duals no prob Greg did it with 2 cats and a X pipe on the super solara. I have also read you want the x pipe as far after the cat as possible but I am not sure why. Unless you are over 300 hp I doubt you would find any gain vs a single exhaust, so this mod would be for looks. A crossover pipe should improve tq across the entire power band and is highly recommended.

In the end unless you are going to be pushing over 300 hp or you really just want the duals for looks I would stay single as far as performance is concerned.

I would probably use 2 spun cats for size and a single resonator on each pipe with 2 inch pipe on a NA engine.

yea i forgot to mention this is all for looks... no performace in mind... only reason i thought of the X-pipe is like i said previoustly was too reduce raspyness... but im thinking of running catless but with one resonator on each line...

Not sure why you want to go catless so bad but why not just use a Y pipe and go dual right before the rear wheels no performance difference and it will be cheaper and easier and look the same? Unless you are on the ground looking under the car.

I under the influence that catless with 2 1/2 inch piping to the back with the x-pipe would of given it some moderate performance incress even though the car was N/A... and i know Midias yournot a fan at all of this but yes i wanted it too be loud.. but not anoying loud..

Probably about the same a highflow cat 2.5 inch single. Dual 2.5 would probably result in considerable low end loss. True dual on an NA should be 2.25 or less. I remember back when I had my montecarlo someone dynoed his stock 1988 5.0 180 HP v8 and it lost about 10 ftlbs of tq between tru dual 2.25 inch and 2.5 inch while hp was about the same. Most people with 300 NA hp or more went 2.5 and most under 300 went 2.25 dual or 2.5 single with similar results.

If you want loud get 2 silverline resonators or cherry bomb glasspacks and put them about half way under the car then just go to nothing but exhaust tips. That is what most hotrod guys do but I would not go dual 2.5 inch.

Something like this would be about perfect. If I was going for volume I would get 4 resonators 2 at 18 inch and 2 at 12 inch use the 2 12" for mufflers and the 18" mid pipe. But just one per pipe would work fine but defiantly put them mid pipe not end pipe. I really like silverline resonators they are super rust resistant. But no matter what you do if you are low HP NA you will not see any real gains over a single 2.5 inch pipe.

ok then 2.5 is no go ! and i would never go without mufflers in the rear.. im not going for the hot rod look... much closer to this one...

dual tip or single tip not sure yet though.. but following this style..

ok that really helps thanks my friends... i would go with the two mid pipe resonators and 2 mufflers at the end insted of the 2 other resonators... that drawing make it clear... i hate to sound like a noob but hey... you cant know everything hehe...

After a quick search I found this. It is probably the easiest way to add duals and don't forget the resonator. Probably 2.5 to the Y then 2.25 or 2 after.

Playing mix-n-match with exhaust systems sometimes gives very bad results.
Engines don't "need" backpressure or a minimum pipe size - the minimum size (cross-sectional area) is already established at either the Y pipe or the manifold, and making it larger after this point has no effect on the pressure at the engine.
How would you get more water out of a 1" hose by adding a 2" hose afterward?
If the engine is large enough, the existing size may be too small, and you can reduce pumping loss by increasing the area. However - the original system (and any good aftermarket system) is developed by extensive testing on the car itself because every change in area or volume produces a harmonic reflective wave which is "felt" at the exhaust port (regardless of system pressure). If done correctly, this wave is negative and assists intake flow during overlap - and it's only distantly related to exhaust pressure. You can have zero pressure (6 completely open 2" pipes) and still have a positive return wave arrive at the valve during overlap in the torque range, and this will reduce power every time. The original system is (when possible) sized and positioned to suppress any positive waves that return between (perhaps) 2,000 and 6,000 RPM, and permit negative waves in the same range (or as wide as possible). This will happen only at the valve itself (called "local port pressure") regardless of total exhaust pressure.
There's no reliable method of predicting exactly what effect combining various parts will have except in the most general terms, and people who have just spent $1K to make the car very loud are not prone to remarking "Well, that was a huge waste of money!".
Be careful, don't throw away the old stuff, and leave some room to adjust the positions of the muffler and resonator - sometimes a weird flat spot can be made to disappear by juggling the lengths a few inches.

i remember something about the spare tire being in a position that complicates the placement of the dual exhaust just enough to make it improbable?

If you're only going for a look, why even bother to split the pipe?
Just hang an extra tip right before the panel, and save a lot of work.
