eBay Clutch - Need opinions

eBay Clutch - Need opinions

Postby mazen222 » Thu Mar 12, 2009 9:24 am

My clutch is almost dead now... its slipping alot. So I am thinking of going with eBay instead of the $700 toyota wants for an OEM clutch.

I found these two, one of them is OEM specs and the other is a Stage 3 clutch. Im debating if i should go with the stage 3 or not. My car is stock, I like to race sometimes, but its on occasions. And I also like the smooth shifting of the OEM clutch.

Both are almost the same price, so I am tempted to go with the Stage 3 clutch, but im afraid the quality will suck and the shifting will be very abrupt...

What do you think?

lol stage 3 clutch on a stock car. long story short don't do it. both for comfort's sake and getting laughed at by other ppl.

I have a stage3 clutch and it sucks in traffic. but I'm boosted, etc etc

I'd go with exedy for a stock clutch. If you still want some extra hold, check out the Clutch Masters stage 2 kit. I have it and it shifts like stock, but it's not exactly cheap.

^ sounds good exedy makes a good clutch but I would have gone for the light weight flywheel. Hell if my clutch ever goes I will get that combo but 165,000 miles and it is still going strong.

I would go with the exedy for a stock application.

If you plan to upgrade, SPEC makes the best clutches out there. They're worth it.

FYI- There has been known frauds where people get pressure plate and put some good paint coating on them and rename them a name brand. I personally have not brought any on ebay and never will unless its something bad ass and i know it can not be flaked. I have personally seen people on other forums with this issue. Some are also getting knock off name brand plate that looks EXACTLY like the real thing but after a few hard runs the pressure plate have crack in half.

FYI.
