Do you mean the resonator? If you remove it (not the 2nd catalytic converter) you should increase exhaust noise, but I don't think it really will add any noticeable power.

center muffler??? Im guessing your refering to the catalytic converter, it reduces the toxins from the exhaust of your engine. Unless you are willing to weld in a test pipe, and wire up an o2 simulator, (removing it will cause an atrocity of c.e.l.s and a/f mixture issuses), your better off keeping it as is. Though you could gain a few hp if you were to do all of the above. On the other hand, what you refer to as the "center muffler" may just be the resonator, it helps to quiet the engine noise and reduce "raspyness". Is it close to the engine or near the muffler?

Dude, I'm getting to love your drawings more and more every day!
Although I have a Gen2, it be best to leave that resonator in place. Our engines can get loud and ugly quick. Most people in this forum add aftermarket exhaust and headers, but they leave the resonator in place, or upgrade to a bigger one.

IMO, if your not going to upgrade to something releasing a few more HP or give a nice sound, don't remove the resonator.

Removing the resonator will not free up any useful horsepower and will most likely increase the rasp of your exhaust note. On a stock muffler it may sound slightly better but chances are if you put any aftermarket muffler on the end it will sound closer to a civic. If you really want a highflow resonator I cannot say enough good things about silverline stainless glass packs they are great quality. I am actually thinking of getting 2 of the 12 inch packs and making motorcycle mufflers.

Silverline glass pack

If you want to buy an exhaust you only have a couple of choice for current productions units. The Megan OE and Rally, JIC which come in 2.5 inch for a NA v6 or OBX and jpp which are 3 inch and prob only good for SC applications.

Or you could just make your own
