After Coilovers installed, ABS light went on.

Hey guys, just a quick question. I took my 2000 solara to a shop to install coilovers yesterday, after i went to get my car back today and i noticed the ABS light was ON, so i went back to the shop and told them what happened. the shop said it was b/c the break was remove to install the coilovers and they are gna check it up tomororw and make the lights to go away. So i'm wondering is it really b/c the break was remove before ? or might be something else is broken ? should i go to the dealership tomorrow to check it up again ?

P.S. i had a bad experience with this shop before, but i had no choice since i live in a small town. so i just want to make sure nothing is wrong with my car.

So i went to get my car back today, and they found out its was the speed sensor to casue the ABS light went on. However, they are NOT GNA pay for it.

I'm betting they tore the ABS line because they didn't disconnect the ABS from the caliper.

but ill get my car back tomororw, how would i know if they did tore the ABS line or not ?? would they be able to make the ABS light to go away if the ABS line is broken ?

That's what happened to my 97 Camry when I installed my 1st set of struts and springs. If they refuse to pay for it, then I would not worry about it and live without ABS. Those ABS Sensors are not cheap.

^^ you can always use human-ABS by pumping the brake.

Jesus, I've broke one myself when changing an axel. My mechanic broke the other one when he changed the axel too. Just bring the car back and let them fix it.

I dont like abs anyways.. it doesnt seem to make the car stop any faster, it did scare the hell out of me though. I was driving (when i first got my license) and a car pulled out in front of me and i had to run off the road a little bit. I stomped the brakes and the pedal started vibrating, I though I had hit something and destroyed my wheels

if you got the supra brakes installed i would highly recommend having ABS on. The brake bias is stronger up front and you could easily lose control.

you can go to the junkyard grab a sensor with wire from a gen 3/gen 4 camry and just splice the wires together and insert the 'new' sensor then it'll work. I did this exactly and the sensor was free (it usually cost $80+ plus). I went to the local pick n pull btw.

its meant to keep ur brakes from locking and to keep you from skidding when u slam ur brakes
