Megan racing Drift spec cat back???

Postby Goldnwhite » Sat Feb 07, 2009 1:25 am

Hey, I'm new here!!! I have a 99 solara. It is all stock except for a K&N airfilter. Well and I guess the tein springs and wheels. I am looking for an exhaust to compliment my wheels. It is my daily driver so I'm not going crazy. I am just wondering how loud this cat back is??? The headers and downpipe are stock, although I may switch to a new set of headers and Y pipe. So can anyone tell me how loud this exhaust is or does anyone have vid of it???
Heres a couple pix.

I dont know but I know everyone like myself will recommend you to drop the car and add a lip...it'll look twice as nice. Clean ride.

I think it has a removable silencer so it is not that loud if you leave it in. Personally I like the megan oe exhaust better because it does not look like a standard civic fart cannon and come out at a funny angle looking like it was installed wrong. But the quality is good and the exhaust should last for a long time.

i thought cat backs were specific to model? is there one for solara?

any suggestion on a non-ricey exhaust that's easy to install?

For Fzzyrn
Here are 3 catbacks in current production for the solara. Two are from Megan and one is from OBX you would know this if you checked the stickies. Please watch Posting and You

The OBX is 3 inch pipe and better suited for the supercharged applications. The Megan comes in two styles one is the standard drift / fart cannon type and it has an angled exit and a removable silencer. The other is the OE style with a cleaner less modified look and it is quieter. Both should give about the same performance. All 3 catbacks are easy to install and in my opinion the OBX and Megan OE are the least ricey. From personal use I can say the OBX sounds very good. I have sound clips on you tube. If I did not go the custom route (Check the sig) I would have gone Megan OE

OBX

I would call them because Greddy was discontinued and they probably cannot get them.

Nice man.
The catback exhaust won't be loud unless you buy one from AutoZone or Pep Boys.

The car is lowering 1.5 or a little more inches. But no one has any vid???

I don't care for the oe look from megan. The two tips looks goofy on our cars because there is only a singe cut out on the bumper.

i'm surprised that damon hasn't stopped in to compliment the gold on white look.

and i think midias pretty much covered the exhaust info.

Will the OBX exhaust kill my low end power? I know the 3" is quite big for a stock engine setup. I have a turboed mustang and I run a 3" on it lol. I don't plan on ever making this car what the mustang is so I want something that adds a little style and tone. Not really looking for power gains although that would be kind of nice. :)

I did some reading last night and it seems that the OBX is just too big for my stock car. I'm still debating between the two megan exhaust's. I like the look of the tipped up and out muffler. You know, the one that looks like a crappy fab job. :)
