This kills the trans quicker. Im assuming your still a kid, because as kids, people do such things. But now that you know better, try not to do that, if you want to feel like driving a manual and cant get a manual, but a water bottle in ur front cup holder and pretend that way, atleast that way, u wont kill the trans  ...just dont do it with friends in the car, they might think ur retarded.

Dont worry man, we've all been there at some point or another, just that people learn with experience and some actually take advice and learn from other's experience.

So now that u know better, its up to u on which way you want to learn....from our advice, or...ur trans.

also, what i would do is start a thread with all the weirdest questions you can think of and have them answered. I'm not making fun, just advice since i've been there before and know how it is.

quick intro about yourself and all the questions you can think of. that way responders will know whats up and won't flame or get annoyed with 10x threads of questions thats been answered before.

Solara 2004+ all has Tiptronic arent they ? and most of newer model of Toyota autos ? i drove a Yaris 2008 couple months ago, when you shift to the left there are 1-2-3 numbers, you can drive manually but only 3 gears ? exactly the same to Solara 2004+, also they dont built OverDrive On/Off anymore. maybe new-tech, old one like "O/D On" = 4 gears "O/D Off" = 3 gears.

Hey Wid kid you're on other topic too ;) hey you drive L - 2 shifts only when your car stuck in mud/snow or carry heaven stuffs or up the hill and drive slowly like most of Car has the L and the 2, you dont drive those as Manual Trans haahahah, if you like you change your car to 2004+ and some of other Sport car has tiptronic/5/spd manual.

We rarely use those shifts L-2 in America cause we drive with high speed unlike Asia and other countries and we hardly stuck in Mud or Snow so they are NO USE, thats why i think now they makes all Tiptronic for Toyota since they stopped makin Celica, To me i like Tiptronic more than 5spd, Tiptronic is Fun, Eazy, Safe, no different to 5spd, in downtown 5spd you use max Gear =3, Tiptronic also make to 3, Freeway 5spd max is 4-5, tiptronic shift to D automatic = 4 gears, no different.

Some of you think 5spd is start faster than Automatic, dont underestimate the SLEv6 solara, they are crazy...i rag-race and red light stoppin race with Acura RXS, Lexus 2007, Accord 2D coupe 2003, i lost to them only when my car started to Hip-Hop dance, look like peoples think im newbie to 5spd but its not lol its Automatic-trans. My car like to Hip-Hop dance sometimes if i gas pedal deep and fast.

Except the Tq converter, lack of clutch and the control that comes with it.

^ bingo (took the words out of my mouth)

besides, you can't overrev with a tiptronic tranny, and thus you can't have fun downshifting.

and i was wondering, can a LSD be installed on an auto? i've never heard of it, but i wouldn't be surprised if i was mistaken. i know that torque converters can have a lock-up application where you minimize tranny power loss, but that is something different.

and another thing i'd be interested in finding out is drag times for one driver, on all three, manual, automatic, and tiptronic.

if i'm not mistaken, the most efficient system is still a straight up manual. based on quicker shifts, less drivetrain power loss, and more control of powerband.

autos/tiptronic still have a little shift lag, in between gears, i think (noticable on the tiptronic of a porsche boxster, which kinda makes it not as fun to drive). also, is the tiptronic linked to the drive by wire nature of the car? and doesnt the drive by wire setup have a delay between mashing the petal and feeling the car respond?

i'd take a manual first, then an auto, then tiptronic...if it were me
