Heh, maybe you can tell what i've got planned.
First off, what's the stock size piping, od and id?
I know the flange is two-bolt, but what is the spacing between the two bolts?
...and, finally, what about 02 simms? Can I just grab one off of ebay and all be good?

Thanks guys.

It depends what kind of simulator you find I guess. I used the "anti-fouler" one. It extended the O2 sensor further away from the exhaust flow. Very useful when not running a cat.

Approx 2.25 od for the v6 a 2.5 od pipe slides right over the stock v6 piping and approx 2.0 inch for the I4 Both a 2.5 and 2.25 universal flange will fit like in the link below. Search around they can be had in mild steel for about for about 7 dollars. http://store.racing-solutions.org/exhaustflanges.html is a good place. If you are planning on running no cat there is really no point but I think UD is the best option for an o2 sim.

The simms are for later on down the road ;-)
Very informative post midias.
Seems like my project will take place sooner then I thought, look for pics soon.

Well, just for the time being, I'm going to be eliminating the stock muffler with just a straight pipe coming out back with a nice polished tip.

I would like to get some headers, y-pipe, and eventually a high flow cat. I was playing around and just unbolted the muffler and my butt dyno says the car is a decent amount more peppy. I do plan on throwing it on an actual dyno and seeing how well my butt dyno is performing though. ^_^

I would guess maybe 1hp with a 95 dB sound increase.

Ehh, if you say so, it's not that loud due to all the cats, but I don't mind your criticism, I knew there would be sceptics.

Well if the real dyno is not sensitive enough to pick up gains I would suggest buying a butt dyno here
http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_pa ... ucts_id=41

The description says it all

Just install a great mod like a cold air intake? Electric supercharger? Big Muffler? Magnetic fuel line ionizer? Awesome wing? Are you getting no respect from your friends for your newly found power? As we all know, these are high end and sophisticated modifications. Some may be TOO sophisticated to actually show up on a traditional dyno. So here we have: The Butt Dyno. Simply place it in the seat, and drive fast, weaving in and out of traffic. (On a race course, of course.) Now you can tell your friends with confidence "That oil-saturated air filter gave me 20 horses!"

But on a somewhat more serious note if you really want to remove you muffler and I am guessing you want to because performance mufflers are expensive. You can get away with
1 flange 2.5 inch
1 90 degree elbow 2.5 inch
1 piece of straight pipe 2.5 inch
1 piece of threadded rod for a hanger 3/8 or 1/2 inch
1 tip of your choice
1 60674 gasket for the flange joint.
2 10mm ~35 mm long bolts
2 10mm nuts

This is more of an experiment, not a dd thing, I would like to see how restrictive the factory muffler is, seeing how well it quiets down the exhaust note, I figure it is decently choking the engine.

I'll be sure to post a sound clip in the near future, maybe ill make one tonight, I wanna see how well my camera records audio.

I have found when recording audio don't put the camera directly behind the exhaust outlet and set it back 3 feet or a little more so the exhaust noise does not overpower the mic.
