CP-e intake question

CP-e intake question

Postby v6secamry » Wed Nov 12, 2008 2:02 pm

Hey guys, I have the cp-e intake on my car for about 3 months now. I was thinking about getting the K&n filter like some of you did but without the extending the pipe. I couldnt find the part number or specs for the k&n one. The reason I want to change from the af-e filter is because that oil dries so fast, I dont even bring the car to WOT often.

thanks for your help

HA HA! Memories!

I put it on at around 50,000 miles. I now have over 91,000 miles, with only a couple re-oilings... and those were "marginally" necessary. (Mainly just routine stuff I do when cleaning it up sometimes...)

CP-e still working great. Not ONE CEL since installed. WOOT!

I cannot tell a lie... (Well, I CAN... but...)

I did NOT "yet" solder the joints. I DID use the "Scotch"? connectors provided. I was VERY CAREFUL to make sure the CASING ONLY was "cut" into by the connectors, to prevent severing copper wire strands in the process, which can cause premature failure. It's STILL better to solder, but with the care I took to spread the harness wires and attach in "non-stressed" orientations... I believe I have a secure setup. (I think midias mentioned "failure" or someone else, too... from not soldering... so I always FEAR the potential of a sudden failure... but NO ISSUES after OVER 40,000 miles of HARD driving... so it's either ABOUT to happen, or I'm good to go for the duration.)

I may get in there and do it yet sometime... just so busy... AND lazy anymore! Keeping my fingers crossed!

^^^ It's easier to learn to solder than to be "un-lazy".

I used an iron from radioshack and connectors and heatshrink from harborfreight. Also lead based solder makes life easier if you can find it.
