safc II not functioning properly... PO 100?

Postby hskrsolara » Mon Nov 10, 2008 5:31 pm

Hey guys,
So, I went to start up the solara and had some problems. First, the safc II screen lights up the whole screen, essentially showing a blank screen. I can't control anything on the safc. 2nd...idle is VERY rough, cant really drive it anywhere as it dies as soon as I get out of the throttle. Then, I pull a PO 100 (MAF) code. Any idea whats going on? I called my tuner and he said he's never seen it before. Maybe a bad ground on the safc wiring? I remember Akfahad having some similar issues before, but not sure what the problem ended up being.

I am going to check all the connections and open up the safc II to check the internals.

yep....check all the connections to the ECU and take the car for a run, it the problems persist, try disconnecting the MAF wire that goes to the safc, leaving the origional connection. If the car runs great, the safc needs to be replaced. don't know why, i've never heard of it either and neither did my tuner, but it is a piece of hardware so.....

Let us know.

can I just disconnect the safc completely, til I get the problem figured out? will this affect anything?

I checked all the wiring and nothing was loose. opened up the case and nothing was loose. Maybe the unit went bad. What ever happened to yours Akfahad? Did the safc fail?

Is the Neo wired any differently than the safc II? Not sure if I want to replace this one with another safcII, since the knock readout really isn't functional anyways. But I have a black case that meshes well with my interior...decisions.

sorry it's been a while....yes, it was a bad unit and replaced with a brand new neo from ebay. wiring is pretty much identical, except the neo has two volt wires instead of one...
