Does anybody have the magnaflow direct-fit catilytic converter for the V6 gen2? Its like 500-600$ and i am not sure what performance can expected from it, or if its worth the money

you were quoted too high. Check the magnaflow website, I believe they are under $300.

I thought magnaflow only made a direct fit for the gen2 I4. Either way I don't know of anyone who has one. I think it it everything including the manifold for the I4 and a full new Y pipe for the V6

well how about personal opinions, should i go for it? do you think it'll be worth it?

oh and what about DIY cat-back (from magnaflow) i know it'd be a tough install, but would it be worth it.

I don't know about the V6 engines but when I put a cat back exhaust on my tC (same engine as the Solara) I lost torque. Sure it revs higher and gives you a very very low power increase on the high end but when driving under 4,500 rpm the engine feels dead. It feels like I was driving a Civic with no VTec. I also didn't notice an increase in mpg. Infact it actually dropped since I have to rev higher to feel some oomph.

I put the stock exhaust back on and didn't look back.

I'm sure if you have forced induction it'd be a different story but IMO an icrease of about 3hp, drop in mpg, loss of torque isn't worth the $200 - $500 mod.

Besides, a heavy car like the Solara won't really benefit from a 3hp increase. Heavy cars need all the torque they can get.

I see...

I think i might stray away from the cat converter, its too expensive with minimal (from what i hear) results.

I planned on gettin he Injen short ram, the CP-e is really expensive.
