Greddy Oil Catch Can...

Postby Akfahad » Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:30 am

you can use any oil catch can you'd like, they are universal. I have a NRG Innovations one and works fine.

one line connects from the valve cover port, the other connects to the intake and mount the can itself and your done. Hardest part is finding some place to mount it.

I've ordered the greddy unit
probably for alot more than an ebay unit
the reason for me spending more on brand name, is again, that I am paranoid. No, theres no moving parts, but an exhaust has no moving parts either and we've all seen how bad those can get. An intake has no moving parts, yet we've seen how bad that can get as well. Im not saying an oil catch can is as important as either of those two items but I would simply feel better having bought the product that i know has a warranty and the backing of a known name.

^^ Nice I think I will try one out but I am more curious about the amount of crap it collects vs any HP gain so I went with the $15 ebay version.

Thats the reason i bought mine too, it seems like it would benefit the car tremendously in burning cleaner fresher air.

Perhaps a part of me just felt sad when I heard Trust/Greddy filed for bankruptcy as well.... I dont know...

In any case according to a few sources, this catch can isnt a bad idea for the PCV either ( *cough* vik *cough* )
LoL

What do you mean when you say its not bad for the pvc either?
I see you connected it to the intake to the breather port on the engine is that it seems easy to install?

Should be very easy to install. When I get mine in the mail I will do my nice guy thing and take pics during the install to help fellow SG members.

Mr_Chunkz wrote:+edit check out the fact or fiction page on import tuner for oct 2008 ( has a supra on front cover )...
In an SR20DET baseline dyno pull shows avg 242.8WHP
With catch can installed 244.3 WHP

I know thats not a big deal but I think its kinda cool that it adds a bit of power. I, on the other hand, am simply using it to keep my intake, tb, sc and engine cleaner

By the way for you guys using breather filters especially read this article. Breather filters on that vent near the valve cover actually DECREASES power because

Even more detrimental is when those cute little breather filters are used instead, that neither vent excess blow-by pressure as much as a vacuum-driven alternative, nor stint the build up of contaminants in the cylinder head -- doubly robbing power

i wouldnt say that the two diffrent whp read outs are because of the catch can install....u can sit there and do a dyno run, and then come back the next day, same dyno and pull ~around the same number +- a few digits....or even a few minutes later.
