4cyl Fujita Cold Air Intake

4cyl Fujita Cold Air Intake

Hey guys, ever since I got my 2.4l '05 solara early this year, I have been contemplating whether or not I should get the Injen SRI, but have held back since I would really prefer getting a CAI.

From what I know (correct me if I'm wrong), they do not have a CAI made SPECIFICALLY for the gen2 4cyl.
Although, recently, I came across the Fujita CA-3318 CAI made for the 2.4L camry (also a 2az-fe). After careful analysis and comparison, it looks as if this intake would fit in my vehicle.

I know this was brought up just over a year ago here: http://www.solaraguy.com/viewtopic.php? ... ght=fujita
But my question is: Has anyone installed this on their gen2 solara?
and: Do you think this would work for me if I go for it?

For Your Reference, a comparison of my engine compartment (top) to a camry with the fujita (bottom):

I'm pretty sure the battery will be fine since I will be removing that black piping that leads to the stock intake (to the left of the battery). From there, this intake goes underneath the battery to where the filter is, between the front left wheel well and the foglight.

Tomorrow I think I will remove this black tube and take pics to compare them to the ones posted by Camrazy on the older thread.

Now, that I look at it, I wonder if that radiator hose will get in the way since it is shaped differently on the camry.

Thanks for that. It looks like it would fit there since there's space. One question is now that you have that removed, if you look underneath the battery, do you see a large opening between the frame and the splashguard so that the piping can bring the filter in front of the left wheel well?

There is a video here on the camry, to let you have an idea of the filter's placement:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwSN5K7IZU4

I am going to take some measurments today to see how much space is in between the battery and the radiator hose. Would it be a big deal if the intake piping is touching the radiator hose?

I appreciate you going out of your way to take pics for me kingkakyle. I reached my hand down there today and did feel an opening below the frame, so it's looking good. Plus there is about 4.5 inches between the battery and radiator hose.

As for power/torque gains... what fujita has on their site for this intake i think is the wrong one since it claims around 200hp. http://f5air.com/images/dyno/3318_2.jpg
I think it should be comparable to their scion tc cai which is here: http://f5air.com/images/dyno/ca3101%2005%20tc.GIF

EDIT: I also noticed the screws on my MAF are in the opposite corners compared to the camry, should this fit if I swivel the MAF 90degrees?
