i use castrol syntec blend 5w30 and change it every 2k miles. although if you used the mobil one i would definitly leave it in there longer. that shiz is expensive.

Valvoline Full Synthetic is supposed to be extremely good. It was rated almost as high as Royal purple. Amsoil is wicked stuff too.

Ive used Royal purple and Eneos before and was told that because those oils are more like "race oil" they lubricate alot more effectively than they protect ( Hence sometimes the increase in HP from freer moving parts ). Because of this, using "race oil" may have contributed to the down fall of my engine ( spun rod bearing from an oil starved motor from excessive blow by ). I'm not sure if it WAS one of the contributing factors, but I was told Mobil1 protects just as well as it lubes so I will stick to what mechanics have been tellin me

After I had my engine rebuilt under the "sludge warranty" for the 1mz, I have been using whatever synthetic the oil change place has. I get it changed at Toyota's minimum recommended mileage, which I believe is 5k miles.

Previous to the sludge repair I used regular oil and changed it every 3k, just like the petroleum cartel told me.

My Solara uses regular oil 5w-30 Castro GTX, and the oil change is done every 4000 miles. If you care about your car a lot then the synthetic oil is the way to go.

I never used synthetic though, maybe I will switch when the car's milage gets higher (only 26,000+ miles right now).

I have 113k been using RP for a long time, works great.

I would not change from one oil to another. If you haven’t been using synthetic, I wouldn't switch to it. It won’t be good in the long run for your motor.

Won't that not matter since you empty the old oil out before pouring the new ones in? The synthetic are just nicer engine oil but not entirely a different substance.

its ok to switch from regular to synthetic. just dont go back and forth between regular and synthetic.

i bought my solara with like 75k miles on it. the previous owner had always used regular castrol gtx 5w30.

I switched to mobil1 5w30 the first day i bought it and have been using it ever since. i have 155k and still running like new.

I have around 94k on my camry v6 and I'm switching to synthetic this old change.

I will be going to syn-blend (half conventional and half synthetic) then full synthetic from mobil 1 the next oil change.
