Why is it that some solara Gen 1 pair taillight sets look crystal and others looks extremely dull with no shine? Were the tailights on the 99 solara less glossy than the 01 solara.........or is it just old age and sun damage

IMy car has Gen1 taillight and they were shinny, now they are crystal I use PlastiX from Meguiar's to make them new again.

I saw lots of Gen1.5 taillights and they were all very clean.

I was reading through this writeup on restoring headlights

http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/sh ... hp?t=20994

Do you think wetsanding with PlastiX would make the lights come out even better? Im scared about damaging the lights with sandpaper.

Start with just the wax and work from there.

sandpaper can be usefull is they are VERY dull. But taillights doesn't become enough dull to need sandpaper, headlights does.

If you take car polish, and apply it with an electric buffer, or vigerously by hand....the shine will come back.

1500 Wet/Dry Sandpaper. Wetsand it for about 45 secs. Buff it with compound. Buff it with polish. Buff it with wax. Brand new? Maybe.
