First of all: these are a bitch to remove. anyone know what size socket will get these things off?

Second: the hose that's in the way--did you remove it or did you just cut into it and replace it? Haynes recommends replacement if you have access to it since it's such a hastle to get to.

If the GM are the same as the stock you want a 1_1/16 socket and I replaced the coolant hose because it was already exposed.

can you purchase this coolant hose anywhere? like Checkers?

i'm thinking about just cutting into it and replacing it since it's such a bitch to remove AND it's in the way of the knock sensors...

I found it super easy to remove the hose after I got in there. All you really need is a length of 1 inch universal coolant hose. My store was out so I just compared it to the preformed hose on the shelf to get one that fits. Just make sure it is not too loose or it will leak. Mine was a very snug fit and I even could reuse the stock clamps.

okay cool thanks! i read the info in the link you provided as well and it says the knock sensors require a 27mm socket for removal. (just posting info in this thread for future reference) i'm assuming it's the same size for a Solara as for a Sienna.

and i'll check the local Checker's store for the hose--mines refuses to come off, so i'ma just cut it off.

When I went to the parts store they did not have a 27 mm socket.

Also 27 mm is 1.062992125984251968503937007874 inches
1.0625 or 1_1/16 works just fine.

Just use a large ratchet. Thats what I did.

As for the coolant hose, just get it at the dealer. It's like $15. Also, if original, replace the Manifold to head gaskets. If you go to put the manifold back on, and it does not seal, that's a whole nother set of issues.

okay cool. thanks for the reminder. i just ordered the gaskets.

Also, the GM knock sensor kit COMES WITH ONE WIRE on the harness; the OEM harness has 2. how do you wire these up?
