P0325 on NA fixed

P0325 on NA fixed

Postby Midias » Thu Jun 26, 2008 2:42 pm

Well on the way home today I was instantly greeted with a lack of power and a CEL p0325 bank 1 knock sensor. Well I shut the car off and restarted and things came back to about 85-90%. So it looks like a need a new one and I am not even SC.

I just have a couple questions is 325 the sensor on the front or back bank?

Could the fact that one of my tires blew a belt and I had some bad vibration for 3 days have caused this? I just got that fixed yesterday.

Sense I am not SC is there any brand of knock sensor I should get or will what ever I can get easily do?

Thanks guys

there is a reason u blew that sensor..find out if ur car is good shape before u replace that sensor...could be fuel related (maybe an injector is fuckt up causing a lean condtion?) i dono, but just check...GL.

Yea could that reason be 162k miles or maybe because I used 89 but that should not matter.

Either way I cleared it and I will watch to see what happens

Yea that is what I needed to know.

On another note the light went off by its self yesterday but came back on today what a pain so I filled the tank with 93 again to see what happens but I also ordered a new sensor so I can replace the old one.

Well I am back to 93 and I bought a new sensor I am just waiting on gaskets to come in and then I will replace everything including the plugs and fuel filter just encase. Also I checked my fuel filter replacement joint and no leaks there so at least I have one thing going for me.

Anything else I should check before I go pulling the manifold off, I already am getting a full obd 2 scan tool so I can look at the basics.

I picked up a full OBD 2 scanner from a friend on thursday and started watching my engine and it's sensor outputs. Mostly MAF sensor and ignition timing. What I saw was as my car started to run like ass the timing went from an average of +20 at low RPM to -1 so knock sensors needed to be replaced.

On Saturday I spent a few hours working to replace the sensors. I decided to do both because it was a pain in the ass. Interestingly enough I got 2 sensors one from duralast and one from BWD and both were the same denso sensor with the same part number as the factory originals.

For gaskets I purchased a full top end gasket kit online including all the coolant gaskets and I got to work. After 6 cans of throttle body cleaner for the manifold new gaskets a new coolant line under the manifold and 2 new sensors and new plugs the car seems normal again. took about 6 hours not including interruptions. So there is some info for the next person to have this problem on an NA car.

At advance autoparts they were ~$130 after tax but they only had the 1 autozone had another but it was ~$160 but I made them price match advance auto parts. Both were the same denso sensor as original. The advance auto parts sensor even had a toyota parts number sticker on the bubble wrap around the sensor. For the coolant hose a 1 inch hose about a foot long will work but they did not have any so I just matched the hose up with one they had on the wall and cut the ends off. It fit great nice and snug.

good price on those sensors without a hookup of any sort!

as for the coolant line, you got very lucky...I took a generic hose and cut it up to fit....and then got a huge leak AFTER I put everything back together the first time....

lol...that was a long time ago...and I've learnt since then haha

Yea I guess I did but the hose I got had the same bend and it was a tight fit so I was not worried.
