Any advice before install???

Any advice before install???

Postby M_ABILLONES » Thu May 29, 2008 6:25 am

Guys,

I just bought a set of "staggered" wheels for my Gen 1.5 Solara. But before I install the wheels I wanted to see if you guys can give me some advice on preventing tire rub, wheel spacers needed, extending lug, etc.

Here are the specs:

19x8.50/+32 Offset in the back
18x8.50/+35 Offset in the front

Was lowered using Tein-Tokico combo but now I have the new K-Sport Coilover kit.

Thanks,

Mark

32 offset is pretty aggressive for the rear I think- you for sure wont need any spacers front or rear, the front should be perfect. The rear is probably about at the lowest offset you can possibly run, so youre really gonna need to roll those bad boys... if not shave or pull them/

For spacers get the ones with a built in hub lip

oh and to add on to that, if you're wondering, the hub size is 60.1

H&R spacers I believe have a hub ring,
The Kic's spacers do not.

Some H&R do if I remember correctly their 5mm do not they just have the stock hub sticking out but I personally do not think it sticks out far enough for proper balance.

I am currently running 20mm because they had the hub and I got a good deal on them no problems.

Well how do I know if I need spacer(s) to the rear? At that, what size should I buy?

So correct me if I'm wrong but the spacer is used to "push out" the wheels to prevent rubbing? In that case should I also replace the lug stem with an extended one?

I am not knowledgeable of rim sizes to tell you off the bad but if you put the tire on and it rubs on the strut it is time for spacers. I personally like the thicker kind that bolt on so you do not have to replace wheel studs.

Actually that was just a picture I pulled off ebay searching for "solara wheel spacer" I actually own THIS SPACER and the quality is very nice and the fitment with the hub is super close tolerance plus they got them to me in about 2 days. If you want I can pop the wheel off when I get home and take a picture of them.

Don't let their feedback fool you ebay recently changed how they do feed back to include neutrals and only go back 12 months. So everyones score went down.

Another thing about spacers.
Make sure you get ones with the 12x1.5 thread, not the 12x1.25 thread, otherwise you're fu*ked. :)

Don't need any spacers...your wheels will be already pretty much pushed outside of your car maybe even too much! You'll need to play with the camber I guess ! Really agressive choice but if you make it fit right...it will look really nice, no matter your wheel style.
