Dirty K&N Filter - Missing cleaning solution

Dirty K&N Filter - Missing cleaning solution

Postby gnegroni » Thu May 15, 2008 7:04 pm

Title says it all... I lost my K&N Cleaning solution and both K&N filter and the paper air filter I have now is past its time, since I've been getting lower MPG recently.

Do not want to purchase another kit (cleaning solution + filter oil)... no money for that, just for occasional recession-unemployment beer.

Those of you that have such cleaning solution (can read label) or anybody else, could you suggest an alternate and/or equivalent cleaning solution?

Midias, I know I can buy it $12... but I'm cheap right now! Anybody have suggestions for cleaning this cotton gauze filter?

Well, then I guess I'll just have to wait... won't buy another paper filter though (same cost as kit).

Cleaned it up with the new kit (keeping it safe now) and everything looks OK.

However, it appears the filter took a beating while being "stored"... apparently somebody threw it around and wiped the floor a bit with it, since some small wires are beginning to show thru plastic on some corners.

Anyway, its nice to have a nice, clean, free flow filter... mileage back up again!
