Intake question

Intake question

Postby uha1 » Sat Apr 05, 2008 10:30 pm

I `m planning to get a very cheap intake for my solara (v6 5-spd).
there are many reasonable intakes on ebay

Do you think that would worth to change it or should I just stick with the stocks? I haven't done any modifications on the car before

You will more than likely get what you pay for...I'd shy away from the $14.95 intake. I decided to go with the injen sri for now(cpe cai someday) and I love the new engine sound w/out a stock muffler.

Leave the stock until you can afford a real intake. Ebay intakes are crap.

Look around for a CP-e, they are expensive but are the best.

Those bay intake will make you lose power the pipe diameter is all wrong and without compensation in the form of an ecu piggyback you car will not run correctly.

For a gen1 solara you have 3 choices Waepon R, CPE or Injen

I had those intakes before def crap ,1st tey are 3in piping , as of the Injen is 2.75
2nd they don't have all the right connectors for your hoses we have 3 they come with 2 and will give you CEL from time to time in my case it was making run lean when I ran the code ....

Stick with INJEN all the way plus it sounds better

i actually bought this exact same one...out of the box its a piece of crap. the coupler is too big for the throttle body, there are no bolts for the maf sensor and the pipe had a dent in the end. but with a trip to the hardware store and the aem dryflow filter its not bad. i plan on getting an injen eventually. but om my college budget i figured it was worth a shot.

I have the Injen SRI. I'm glad I got it because I was pulled over and cited for not having a CARB sticker. I have the sticker now (which I got through Injen) but I don't think those ebay intakes are legal and come with the CARB stickers.

CARB compliance is required by California only.

And stick to stock.
