Brakes on Solara

I want to upgrade the stock brakes on my 03 Solara so my lara will be able to stop from 60 mph to 0 mph in like 2 sec.

What must I change to get hardcore stopping power?

Also what all-season tires are top of the line for a Solara. I used to have a camry which had Michelin HydroEdge Tires and those were pretty good.

Try Rotora Big Brake kits or K-Sport Big Brake Kits...they come in either a 4-pot set up or 6-pot kits...for tires, have two sets: one for summer and one for winter...all season is a compromise! Yokohama Advans are great summer tires...General Tires makes a really aggressive winter tires...Kumho Ecsta MX are good too and Sumitomo HTR-ZII Tires are cheaper and does a good job as well!

Not "Specifically" for the Solara. But the Camry BBKs are interchangeable. Same platform, less doors.

Ive decided that those Big Brake Kits are way too expensive plus I only have 15" wheels. I believe the BBK's take 17"s. I want to stay with my 15" wheels

Besides BBK, is there another way to give my lara hardcore stopping power?

I was thinking about converting my rear drumbrakes into disc to make all 4 wheels have disc. Plus I will get all ceramic brake pads. If you have any advise for getting good stopping power then please share.

rear disc brake conversion will give your car a world of change

but other than that, get some good pads and straight rotors along with stainless steel brake lines and that's about it for real brakes


weight reduction would actually be one of the best things for braking distance

I'm pretty sure the TRD pads are ceramic.

And hardly anyone ever mentions this, but a lot of braking performance also comes down to tire choice. Sticky rubber = better stopping.

I think even factory brakes are ceramic. Just go for brembo blanks and good hawk pads.

I was hopeful that someone else would see that LOL. Talk about a pet peeve .

On tires, Michelin Exalto’s are available in the 205/65/15. We put a set on my Dad’s ES300 and they are very nice. For the biggest “cheap” boost in brake performance the SS lines work very well. They increase pedal response and improve brake feel. I like EBC Greenstuff pads. They melt like butter, but they have great initial bite.

Brake upgrade plan.

I dont care about dust etc.... I just want high performance stopping power.

I plan to get the two rear drums converted to disc

- Brembo blanks (Brembo Replacement Rotor) on all wheels

- Hawk HPS Street brake pads on all wheels (contemplating on whether to get ceramic or semi-metallic)

- Goodridge G-Stop SS Brake lines

I want to have a brake flush done also. What brake fluid brand/type should I use?

Please critique and suggest any alternatives that you believe will provide greater stopping power for my lara
