Hot Engine Starting Problem

Hot Engine Starting Problem

Postby Anthony » Sat Mar 01, 2008 6:41 pm

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can suggest the cause of a hot engine starting problem. When the engine is cold, it starts up no problem. However, when it is hot and I turn the car off for just a few minutes and try to turn it back on, there is some hesitation starting and then when it starts, the RPMs are very low. I either need to turn the car off and then restart (at which point it is OK) or I need to hit the gas peddle to get the RPMs higher and then it is OK. Any ideas? I have about 180,000 km at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

When was the last time you gave the throttlebody or IAC a good cleaning?

When was your last tune up?

if it is temperature related, my best guess is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor malfunction.
