THE SCION TC HEADERS WORKED

THE SCION TC HEADERS WORKED

Postby 47TH_Ronin » Wed Feb 13, 2008 9:49 am

Hey bros, I just installed the JVT RACING scion tc 05-07 headers onmy 05 se sport solara. I had to have the flang cut off and a solid pipe added from the end of the header to the rest of the exhaust....in other words, the only way to remove the header is to have my exhaust cut off in front of the flex tube. Small sacrifice though. And the oil stick bracket had to be taken off..it was the only thing that kept the header fro direct bolt on, so no my oil stick tube can be moved around, but it is still secure. Also, theere is not a lot of space between the far left header tube and the altinator, but I have had no problems with heat melting the altinator housing and I've been running the hell outta my lara. I paid 50 bucks for the custome install between the bottom of the header and the down pipe. I was going to have the resinator removed and go with full 2.50 pipe, but i decided not to. There isn't really a need unless force induction is used. It sounds bad ass now and runs strong. Also, people were thinking my engine light would be on due to the missing cat, but nope, even after an ecu reset, no engine light. I must say, combined with the TRD exhaust and the injen shrt ram air intake....it sounds and runs a lot better and i don't sound like a honda with a 200hp weed eater motor under the hood, it has a growl to it. also, im looking into a throttle body spacer by OBX or AiRaid...suppose to work pretty good. well here is pics of the car, tell me what you think http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2984057

Nice Job getting them to work. Just a couple questions one can you get a better picture of the part that had to be welded?

The second is why did you choose a 4-1 design over a 4-2-1?

Good stuff, but...

the ecu takes about 50-100 miles before it registers a fault in the o2/af sensors.

Did u drive it 50-100 miles yet?

HEADERS

Postby 47TH_Ronin » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:20 pm

yea, ive driven about 150miles since the install. the DOHC VVT-I decals were a find, makes it stand out alittle more. as far as the intake...the paper work injen sent me says it is for 02-04 solaras, but is compatible for 05. i called the tech support after i got it in the mail, because i was told throw the company, it was specifically for an 05...they apologised and said it was a typo and sent me a free license plate frame lol. i would use it however i have a chrome one with SOLARA in red lettering comming in the mail..will take pics soon, im still waiting for Michael T grills to arrive. Anyhow, i will start it up and see if i can record some decent sound..its mean i tell you that especially after about 4000 rps...
