Knock it off children.

BigBodyChevrolet: Relax my friend. Yes, you mentioned the AutoZone thing first. BFD. vSolara was not quoting anyone directly. We appreciate the input. It's good advice. But you'll find on forums that advice is free and recognition for your shared knowledge is seldom given. Such is the way of the internet.

As for the censorship: There's no need to express yourself in socially unacceptable ways. We're all adults here so please avoid cussing like a Sailor's Parrot. We find that word substitution with silly phrases tends to make the itrate ones look stupid. (Thus taking the tension out of the equation.)

So in this situation, free speech does not influence our decision.

Hmmmm I notice there seems to be a pretty bad gas smell too. I've only had the car for four months, but I think I've always kind of noticed that. Would that indicate a problem?

A bad O2 sensor can cause the car to run rich

ok, we can all speculate all we like, but we're not going to be able to actually give you valuable input until you get the code pulled from the car. goto autozone, have them scan the code, and then let us know what code it ends up being.

Hey man...just disconnect your battery for 20 seconds then reconnect! If you know that its not your car then I would take that action first. When you do that it clears any codes. I just had the same problem yesterday and I was about to take it to the dealer too. Luckly I asked my father and he was right. Hope that helps.

I would guess p0441 or P0446 check your vacuum hoses but most likely your charcoal canister s not doing it's job very common on these cars.

Wow, Midias, interesting, we took it in to the mechanic and he said he had to clean out the "canister valve" I think, so I'm assuming thats the same thing your talking about. Thankfully it looks like we wouldnt have to replace the part, just cleaning it got the check engine light. Can you give some insight on what the canister does?
