Aftermarket wheel studs

I read a few threads about this, but didnt find an answer as far as installation goes. I got H&R TRAK 5mm rear spacers for my new setup that came with extended studs and I want to install them. My shop guy told me it is pretty labor intensive and you have to use a press. has anyone ever changed rear studs on a solara? I read that the front just pounds right out, but Im wondering about the rear. I have rear discs BTW. Thanks for any input.

They are not that bad I put them in the rear fairly easialy. I must pressed them in and out with a ball joint press and used lots of grease. To make things easier I took out the bearing assembly (4 bolts) and brought it to my workbench. This is the tool I used

I also used a tool similar to the ball joint press, but mine was specifically designed to remove studs with the hub still on the car. I ordered the part from SPX OTC, who makes tools for toyota. A ball joint press accomplishes the same function. It's a fairly easy process, but it takes a bit of muscle to pull the new studs into the hub.

^muscle is definitely an area where I am usually lacking  Thanks for the advice guys, Ill look into getting a press soon.

Toy1mzfe, where did you take yours to have them pressed? Maybe what Ill do is remove them and take them to my shop guy to have them swapped if I cant figure it out myself.

Yeah recommend you use a press so that you wont hurt yourself. I have tried using a Dead Blow on one stud before 4 months ago.. Til This day it still wont budge. All that rust has really taken its toll on my stud. (This is on a supra by the way)

you can take them to any garage to get it done. I took them to my local one.

I also tried bannging to shlock-dock-wikki-wacki-dacki out of it but it wouldnt budge and i didnt wanna just roll on 2 or wateva if only a certain amount of them came out.

i'd say it's probably cheaper to take it to a shop than to do it yourself actually, between buying the tools, etc.

as for banging them out yourself, if you do choose to do so, becareful of the bearings or else you'll be replacing those at the same time then...lol...
