depending on how hands-on you want to get....you could always pick up an extra airbox+MAF housing from a scrap yard, and then take off the MAF housing via hacksaw and JB weld it to the intake pipe.
when i fabricated mine, that's what i did (check out the pics i sent you previously ... you might be able to see the fit). the JB weld holds it on very well...as well as holds the hose attachments well too.
if you're wanting to do a CAI, then you may want to reconsider the 3" piping....i went with 3" to try and make a CAI, but i ended up only being able to make a SRI....two reasons.
1) i didn't make precise cuts on the pipe, so i had funny angles on the remaining pieces (wouldn't go down through the driver side fender, and it wouldn't allow the splashguard to be reconnected), and
2) the CA extension hole under the fusebox (driver side) is barely big enough for 3" piping....i ended up having to hammer out some of my engine bay to try and get it to fit through...that's still no guarentee that it will be able to make the turn towards the front foglight/fender, and also no guarentee that it will sit securely.
lemme put it this way....if i had to go back and do it, i would use 2.75" piping, and i'd order some extra piping, so i dont end up with odd peices that may or may not fit for the CAI (i originally used madrel bent 3" piping from JCwhitney....
actually, let me put it this way....if had to go back and do it again, i would save enough money to buy a CPE.
really, the custom setup is not much more than a noisemaker (like injen)....but it also has no R&D behind it. whereas Injen at least won't make you lose too much power (maybe a little bit on the bottom end, but it makes up for it on the top end, from my understanding).
otherwise, good luck....
