CP-e to Laptop connector rewire

CP-e to Laptop connector rewire

Postby JavaJoe_2 » Fri Dec 07, 2007 9:32 pm

I need to use the 24(?) pin connector instead of the 9 pin for my laptop connection. Anybody know how to do it?
What pins would go where for the new connector?
I received the 24(?) pin connector with no instructions.
I'm running some OBDII software and the CP-e MAF customizer at the same time. I hopefully can street tune while running both.
Thanks.

From who you received the 24(?) pin connector ? I'm just trying to understand the situation...you received the 24-pin connector with the tuneable kit ? Serial port is the one shipped in the CP-e kit...If I were you, I would buy a serial port (or 9-pin) connector cable right away. Or maybe you're saying you don't have serial port on your laptop ? I don'T know any 24-pin connector...printer (paralell port) have 25-pin

Don't know if it may help...

I guess it's a 25 pin, sorry my eye ain't what they used to be.
I am just trying to use another port to run both softwares at the same time. Any Ideas??
I bought the URD suggested www.obddiagnostics.com scan tool. Works great at $80 bucks.

Yeah nice find ! You must have BR-3 model since none of the 2 generation of Solara are what they call "CAN".

I don't know your computer background. Serial port are indepedant port (COM1, COM2, COM3...) Your CP-e must have a 9-pin connector and your ODBII scantool have a serial connector too. Do your laptop have at least 2 serial port...maybe not because nowsadays laptop can come without serial port ! :-? You can maybe try serial to USB port but I don't garantee success...I tried it with the CP-e module and it doesn't detect it at all.

Tell me if you have 2 serial port (9-pin)...

I just read the scantool website a bit more and they talk about using a serial to USB adapter like I suggested then you can have 1 serial port and 1 USB port on your laptop to do the job ! :)

Well...nice find but I'm septic the 25pin (LPT port) would work find....25 pins port are for printers. You're better going with serial to USB adapter (also what the website ( http://www.obddiagnostics.com ) mention too)

CP-e shows this picture. This is not the Customizer I have but one they show on their website.

I thought maybe I could. I guess i'll go with the OBDII and a 9 pin to usb adapter. Like this offered by URD: Adapter

And I am going to go by this tuning guide ( warning pdf file) by Gadget and Split Second. I have not read through the whole guide but it has sparked my interest.
I may very well scrap the CP-e and go with the SS unit.

Yes, Gadget is the Yota Guru!!
Did you ever try to use the other connector?
I really haven't looked at the black box since installation.
I would guess it would still eventually go into a 9 pin on the laptop.
