the car was stock I guess. Toyota doesn't work like VW...I don't know any "ECU upgrade". I know SAFC II and CP-e piggyback...

saw a Solara one time with the Mr. Fusion bolt-on, driver claimed he could go back in time without the use of plutonium.

no way, without the use of plutonium? He must have a uranium based substance then. :D

Dude sell the injen, fork over some more cash and get the cp-e. There was a torque rod groupbuy on here just a few weeks ago, helps with wheel hop and can make your car faster off the line, costs about $50 i believe.

The injen is plenty capable if you have some sort of tuning device like the SAFC. Are you on a tight budget that puts the supercharger out of the question? That is no doubt the easiest route to make power on the 1mz solara. Its all about how much you have to spend and how fast you want to go.

the cpe is nice and all, but it's pretty much an inflated price on the same thing as any short ram intake and an safc.

the only benefit to the spe is the fact that it comes with a tune pre-mapped so it will save you the price on tuning.

Unless you count the CPE being almost 7/8 of an inch larger pipe diameter which means the MAF no longer takes up half of the air flow path

You can also get the CPE with a tunable box that does the same thing

the SAFC is a piggyback engine management system used for tuning your air fuel ratio, among other things...
