Engine Code PO430???? 2004 3.3

Hello,

My Engine, VSC, and Trac lights all came on today and I've only had the car 3 days. I took it to Autozone to pull the code. It came back PO430. Does anybody have any knowledge how to fix code PO430 ?? Autozone said the possible causes are: catalytic converter could be bad, O2 sensors, vacuum leak, oil leak (I have seen no oil drip), or engine misfire (the car runs perfectly fine). I did a search on this forum and found nothing (unless I didn't search right, lol). I searched the web and it seems to be a pre cat sensor. Any suggestions? Thanks.

is it lightly all the time?
or it shows up when it's at high RPM? around 3k or above?
cause.. it might cause by alternator failure~
(that's what happened to my old accord)
does it light up just today, and goes away after u turn off and restart engine?
that happen to my solara too...
and, i have no clue what happened to it..
i just know... everything seems fine now

Take it back to whomever you bought it from. Sounds like they reset the codes, sold it and they've shown up again. I believe that code is for Cat Converter Below Efficiency, on a CA spec car that could be either your main cat or pre-cat.

How old is the battery? Sometimes, warnings lights can be triggered when not enough juice is flowing....

Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
What does that mean?

Basically this means that the oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic converter on bank 2 (passenger side) is detecting that the converter is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system.
Symptoms

You will likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a rough/hard idle when cold.
Causes

A code P0430 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
* An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
* There is an exhaust leak

Possible Solutions

The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

Then inspect for exhaust leaks.

Next step is to measure the voltage at the oxygen sensor on Bank 2 (the passenger side rear sensor, or the sensor after the converter). The voltage should be low and steady (~200mV, depends on the vehicle). If the voltage varies (e.g. 100mV to 600mV) then it's time to replace the catalytic converter. In fact, it would be a good idea to test each oxygen O2 sensor while you're at it.

One thing to note is that many vehicle manufacturers offer a longer warranty on emissions-related parts. So if you have a newer car but it's out of it's bumper-to-bumper warranty, there still may be warranty on this type of problem. Many manufacturers give a five year, unlimited mileage warranty on these items. It's worth checking into.
