G35 vs me

Pulled hard getting on the interstate this last Fri night didnt notice the G35 behind me. i guess he thought i was trying to race him at first. then i saw him fly up on me and pass by and let off. this guy has mods, or at least a nice throaty non-rice exhaust system. really nice looking G35. Well , if figured what the hell, i run with him just to see what my car will do. i knew i could beat the a VW Golf turbocharged and late 90s Mustang GT easily since those were the only cars i had raced so far. Well here we are 3rd gear from 70. I hit it, he hit side by side for a few secs. Then i just pulled very slightly away thru fourth and so on.. right about 125mph he began pulling me again just very slightly up thru 130+ where we both figured it was a too even match and backed down..
thot it was cool to run with a "more hp" G35 with some mods while i am all stock.

I will be the first to call Major BS BS BS a g35 would rape all NA solara's seriously 265 hp six speed vs a 200 hp 5 speed.

how the heck do you keep up with a stock 2000 solara even with the 5spd??

i thot for sure he would kick my butt too...
its not BS.. go out and race one

my car only has 58k on it so maybe that makes up for something.
or maybe he didnt know how to drive his G35. I dont know. It happened and i thot it was pretty cool to share the story here. Call it what you want.

My last was a 96 240sx with T04 turbo running about 6-7psi which equates to approx 220hp, and even then i beat N/A G35s.

I've been in a couple dozen races I have one mod Injen Intake & I know a Stock Solara even running on fumes would not keep up with a G35. Exp all the way up too 125 mph. Let alone a G35 with mods!!!

G35s are not as fast as people might think anyway..

they have a huge power loss in the drivetrain.. so even that 265hp at the flywheel puts them seriously much lower at the wheel due to their beefy but heavy drive trains.

i miss the old 90s 300zx tt's .. now those were some fast cars!

all i can say is go race one and then come back and say whatever you want. dont knock til you have tried it.
im not going to argue about what happened.. i stated the truth and i dont care what all else is said.
i posted this as positive experience. IT HAPPENED! get over it and go do it!

maybe he didnt know you were racing him, maybe he was just tryin to make good time and didn't notice you beside him.

I have a cp-e and i couldn't keep up with my friend's old stock g35, so again, maybe he didn't know you wanted to race.

that might be true, but he waived when we were done and backed off. i could hear his exhaust as he floord it.. but still maybe he wasnt in it all the way.. who knows

i have raced 350z i know they are faster then g35 i still lost and up to eighty. and definitly there is no way a n/a solara will catch it after 100 i think

We all do respect I think the only one knocking on any doors here is you. Your talking to veteran SolaraGuys who've been there done that type deal for years.

I seriously think the driver of the G35 was cutting you some slack.

just like I said in the top speed thread .. and everyone else is saying .. this is BS...

only way i see this happening.. is if the driver just was absolutely pathetic at driving. Im pretty sure even an ok driver would still smoke a STOCK 5spd Solara no problem... The numbers just say it all. They just have too much power over our cars, esp stock.
Even an automatic would still handle and stock 5spd solara. And there is really no skill in driving one of those in a straight line.

ok i can see that happening. Arent 240s lighter? My friend has an s13 240sx with nothing really in it and its pretty damn quick.

I think these races really would again depend on the drivers. I think the last model GTI 1.8T manual still faster than ours. Don't they mids 6 second range 0-60? And i just googled stock 99 mustang GT times.. they run 14s. Where as stock solaras run 7 sec 0-60 and low to mid 15s.
Like I said it still all really depends on the driver too. Cuz these times are all still pretty close.

on another note... the Gators destroyed the Vols...
plz dont make our strength of schedule look any worse .. so go win the rest of your games...

does not matter how new your motor is a g35 is more than a second faster on the 1/4 than the solara and make any where from 260-300 hp
