Ok, so for those of you that are interested. My Corolla came stock with a 4age engine that weighed (including transmission) : 382 lbs. It had 115 hp and 98 ft*lbs of torque.
I upgraded to the 4agze engine which weighed an equivalent of 462 lbs and produced (with light mods) 180 hp and about 160 ft*lbs of torque.
With the 1mzfe the equivalent engine will weigh 522 lbs and produce 190 hp and 210 ft*lbs of torque.
So is it worth a weight gain of 140 lbs to get an extra 75 hp and 112 ft*lbs of torque (over stock)?
Is it worth a weight gain of 60 lbs to get an extra 10 hp and 50 ft*lbs of torque (over the supercharged engine)?
Well considering that 140 lbs is less than the average passenger, I'd say yes!
Actually my car will gain only about 46 lbs over it's most recent weight because I was able to remove an aftermarket intercooler and its associated plumbing with the swap. Plus I think I can do a little more lightening at the front of the car, to help with the any added weight.
My plan now is starting to look like the supercharger will also be added. I'm sure this weighs more than the intake manifold it replaces, but again, more hp and torque.
Here is a pic of my soon to be 1mzfe powered Corolla or is it a Colara, Sorolla maybe?
