From Stock to Super: My Dyno Results Journal
Last Updated: March 8th 3am
Introduction:
So, here begins my transformation from n/a stock (almost) 2000 Camry v6. I have a lot of mods planned for my car, and I'm going to get a dyno every step of the way. It seems to me there is always some confusion over exactly what modifications gives you what gains. I plan on helping to clear that up once and for all. I'll post all the results here, so everyone can see what gains I get after each individual modification. It should be interesting to see how the numbers change as I go.
I plan to dyno each of the following individually.
Mods to Come (tentative order):
Dyno 1: Base Run (complete)
Dyno 2: OBX Headers & Y-pipe w/ JPP Cat-back, & Jim's Fuel Mod
Dyno 3: MAF cleaning
Dyno 4: High-flow Magnaflow Catalytic Converter
Dyno 5: TRD S/C (4 psi pulley)
Dyno 6: Apexi SAFC 2 w/ tune
Dyno 7: Port & Polished Throttle Body
Dyno 8: TB Spacer
Dyno 10: excessive TRD badges (just kidding)
--------
FIRST (BASE) RUN: March 5th, 2010
Set up: N/A Camry v6
Miles: 157,000
Modifications: Injen SRI (short ram intake) w/ K&N cone filter
Reaction: Terrible!! Running very rich. As you can see, for the first three runs, each run was leaner than the previous run resulting in dramatic increases in performance. What could it be? O2 Sensors need replacing? Dirty MAF? stock MAF too small for my intake? Spark plugs? Hmm...
Notes: I'll be replacing my spark plugs (with NGK) when I install my S/C, and after which I'll be using an SAFC II to tune the AFR. I would like to change my O2 sensors as well, but the dealership prices were too high and I haven't looked into how much they cost elsewhere.
--------
--------
SECOND RUN: (Coming Soon)
Next to be Dyno'ed: OBX Shorty Headers, OBX Y-Pipe, and JPP Cat-back
Taking a visit to Gabe tomorrow to pick up the cat-back and get the crap installed. Next week I'll be getting a dyno to see the impact.
