ToysRme post #25, anyone have any thoughts on this? Especially regarding "The 1mz-fe's that *have* blown up, were killed by:
1) The G D TRD supercharger, which is too small for a Miata, let alone an engine 50% larger with atleast the same volumetric effeciancy. It is too small, the flow is too hot, and the fueling is not up to par.
2) Poor tuning."

okay back on subject.....

IIRC the TRD sc is an M62 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) To put things in perspective, the M62 came stock on the Ion Redline/Cobalt SS and was an upgrade for the Miata Jackson Racing sc. I think the supercharged 3.8L t-birds came with an M90. With any form of forced induction, compressing the air = heat. Heat kills engines. With the limited space in the engine bay, and intercooler isn't pratical with a TRD sc. It's been done before...but it's a tight fit. Methanol injection works wonders! Like turbochargers, a bigger, more efficient, supercharger will move more air and produce less heat at a lower pressure ratio.
Tuning....proper tuning is a must. No way around it. A crappy tune with F/I on top of a high compression engine is just asking for it to blow up
