AEM FIC installed
Wow that was NOT fun at all, but i figured i'd knock it out today. It wasn't as bad as i thought. I had already separated the wires i would be using and the ones i wouldn't. At one point i got confused looking at the wiring diagram for the injectors, but i figured it out. Also, i wasn't able to use the crank sensor. The negative side connects with the cam sensors negative somewhere in the harness so you cant get that signal. Well i guess you could if you ran two wires up to the sensor itself, but i didn't feel like doing all that. Just for shits and giggles, i tapped the cam sensors negative side anyway and moved on with the rest of the install. Once i finished, my lap top wouldn't connect to the FIC. I unistalled the AEM software and installed the lastest...still wouldn't connect. I tried reflashing it, and i couldn't. After 45 minutes or so, i realized the ecu was powering the FIC
so i unplugged the harness and it worked. I let it do its thing and when it finished i try to start the car. All it did was turn over, but it wouldn't fire. I immediately thought about the crank sensor, took those wires off and tried again. IT WORKED! But it ran like absolute sh*t and i had a CEL for Number 3 cyl missfire and cam sensor something something. I checked the wiring again....realized the injector 3 in and out where backwards, and i flipped the cam sensor wires too. She fired up and ran ..a little rich...but it ran. I took a quick test drive, no CEL's. There's a slight hesitation at lower rpm in 2nd (dammit its back!) but thats only at WOT. Other than that, it runs just as well as it did before i started. The only thing left is, i'm gonna go ahead and tap the O2 sensors and see if there's away to get a tach signal to the FIC since it doesn't have an input for one...but thats probably what the crank sensor was for...that and ignition control. BRING ON THE BOOST!
