well, that link to andy's autosports shows that they aren't necessarily 'generic' brand (wilwood)

and the search category for 99-2002 solara yielded that list...

...BUUUUT......

if you're gonna go with stainless again, i'd make sure to have brake check (or whomever does the install) give you the specs for the brake lines needed (i noticed that the list for the 99-02 solara on andy's was still pretty wishy-washy as far as details and full SS line kits were concerned). and what i think damon was saying is that all the part specs for those SS lines were generic. so if you want to use them, make sure you order the right parts (inches, female/male, 45/30 degree block, etc).

and then tell us which ones you ordered, so those of us who haven't done an SS line upgrade know what the part specs are :-)

what brand ss lines are on there now out of curiousity? I have goodridge on mine (ordered from tirerack) and my rear driver side one developed a leak so i had it replaced with an oem rubber one. Dunno if I can contact goodridge about ordering just one line, otherwise I'll replace the other rear one with oem as well.

im in the same boat as you tmmk toy i cant find anyone who will sell a single brake line to me..

do you have any problems running 1 oem brake line in the back?

I can't really say I notice anything, since the rears dont do much braking anyway. While I had the line replaced, they had to rebleed the system and I normally run Super Blue and they ran Toyota DOT 4 in the system, so I did notice a difference with that but nothing I can really attribute to the one oem line in the rear. I'll prob. just go with an oem rubber one on the pass. side soon when it warms up and rebleed the system again with the Super Blue. That stuff does make a difference and I miss it.

I ran ss lines on the front only of my solara since the rear lines were in bad shape and we didnt want to jack the threads up... just front lines alone makes a huge difference since they do 70-80% of the braking anyway.

little update i got the ss lines and took off the ripped one on rear passenger side and replaced it. after that i bled the brakes and now its still not working...

if i press the pedal down it doesnt do anything but if i press it down a couple more times it will finally start working. is this related to some kind of leak in the bmc? or is it something else? i checked all the lines and there are no leaks and the bmc seems to be holding fluid.

any ideas?

Sounds like you need to go back and bleed the lines again. Bleed EVERY corner of the car in this order: right rear, left rear, right front, left front (as viewed from the driving position). If you STILL have a poor/no brakes, then you may need a master cylinder. My feeling is that you just need to bleed, though.

The syptoms you describe are text-book for having air in the brake lines.
When you pump the brakes and the pedal finally firms up (and the brakes work), does the pedal stay up or does it sink slowly to floor when you apply pressure? If you have a sinking pedal, that indicates a bad mc where no other leaking has been observed (as in your situation).

It is not the booster! A bad booster merely makes it harder to press the pedal. It will not keep your brakes from functioning in any way.

Keep us posted!

yeah i bled them in that order but the brake pedal keeps depressing slowly when i step on it. it gets firm after applying brakes like 3 times so i think it might be a mc
