Check Engine

Postby mattyboy243311 » Thu Feb 19, 2009 6:37 pm

I recently got my intake installed and I am getting the check engine light. I am located in the Chicago area and was wondering if anyone has any input on this. The mechanic installed it for me cause I don't have a garage and it's too cold outside. I went back he hooked it up to the computer and he told me that the sensor isn't used to the airflow on the intake and it is giving a different fuel mixture. It came up as P0171 and P0174 which means either too lean or too much. I think I might have to have it hooked it up to a computer and reconfigure everything in order to make it work properly. They told me that they don't specialize in that and I would have to look elsewhere. I would really appreciate you guys helping me out cause I don't want anything to happen to my engine and car overall. Does anyone know where I can go to get this fixed or what I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the vacuum hoses are hooked up and the maf sensor is correctly bolted down. Also pull you neg battery cable for about 20 minutes then reinstall and drive for a bit to reset the computer.

Finally what brand intake. Those cheap ebay intakes are the wrong pipe diameter and can cause the MAF to do all sorts of weird things. Also they are missing a port for one of the vacuum lines.

he blocked off one of the lines?!?! Was it a line coming into the intake, or a nipple on the weapon-r intake itself?

Relax there sparky no need to bump after just an hour some of us oold folks have to work early in the morning and go to bed early.

Did the intake come with instructions? If so that is where I would start by making sure that the install looks like the instructions. Second what engine do you have that might help the rest of us help you. Even if you have already stated engine trans and intake model in another thread it is always a good idea to include all the info in a new thread if you need mechanical advice.

The bigger hose should be used still. Only a few smaller vacuum lines are no longer needed. Check the install tutorials and pictures for hte Injen and the CP-e intakes. The setup should be the same with all hoses.

my intake does not have the two nipples on the side for the 4mm lines I am sure I got the right intake for my model but it doesn't have it? Is there a way of going around this or what?

Thanks

it says to use Plastic "T" fitting and reconnect the 3x 4mm lines all together but then where do i run the third line too do you get where i am coming from it doesn't make sense to me since there is no way to hook them up to the in take no connectors do i just hook them up together and and let them run through eachother blocked off or what

thanks

i think i might have to fit the two 4mm lines with the other bigger hose that is supposed to be blocked off as it says in the ingen since it has the two little nipples and the weapon r doesn't?
