I would not say that many people just don't enjoy oversize chrome rims. (not an escalade forum) Personally I don't like the look of 20's on anything I put them in the same category as a crooked fart cannon exhaust. I care more about a quality intake or exhaust than my cars rims esp around here with the snow and hidden curbs. I also probably would not enjoy the 1/2 second they would cost me on the 1/4 mile.

My point exactly. So no I'm not "Jealous" Whenever I do decide to put some new wheels on my car they'll be gunmetal. Like I said earlier. They look nice but not my style.

rims

Postby beatdownlow » Mon Dec 22, 2008 4:31 pm

yeah the rims do extend past the rubber and yes they are a bit heavier, not too bad tho considering.

The rims don't bother me like 20's on a caprice do. Without being lowered, they do a decient job on filling the wheel gap. However like Midias said, "I care more about a quality intake or exhaust than my cars rims esp around here with the snow and hidden curbs. I also probably would not enjoy the 1/2 second they would cost me on the 1/4 mile." Even thought I do have rims :)

Even with all the opinions out there, it's yours that counts the most.

Yeah scrap that original idea. I did a lil photoshoping and decided afterall that it looks best as is. I was thinking it would look cool painting either the main spokes or the inside spokes black but it just doesn't look right. But a chrome grill would be nice ^as stated above

chrome grill, heavy ass wheels

Postby beatdownlow » Tue Dec 23, 2008 10:06 am

on a lighter note, in regards to chrome grills i love the idea just can't seem to find what i want. would like something that replaces toyota symbol with just straight chrome lines. as well as something for bottom (grill) opening. and as far as heavy wheels and losing time on quarter mile, i think we all know that if we were truly concerned about our times and speeds we would have started with a different platform than the solara. not to dispute that there aren't fast lara's cause there most defenitly are but we're working with a large heavy car with "adequate" horsepower. i probably opened a whole new can of worms there. not trying to disrespect anyone's ride or the solara as a whole just had to be said. that being said i do agree however that my rims would indeed cost me some time on the track but if i was serious about my track time i would have another set of rims for racing. just bought it not too long ago and already have damn near 10 g's put in so for now im just looking at what is available and possible with the gen2's. trying to learn off this website a bit.
