eg: if your supercharger was giving you x amount of hp and y amount of torque with stock intake (cigarette smoker); it will then give you x amount of hp and y amount of torque with CAI (clean lungs). make sense?

basically like danny said the performance of your car will increase (gas milage, engine longivity, etc.) not necessarily the numbers.

hope i helped!

moe, great point about maximizing the benefits of the other mods. I believe you will see a small amount of hp increase from the CAI over the stock airbox though because it allows more air in. Of course the entire process is cyclical, taking more air in will reach a limit if you don't improve the exhaust and ability to burn. Because it takes in the same amount of air as a high performance short RAM intake, I would expect the numbers to be the same. Because it takes in more air than the stock air box, I think the numbers will go up (over stock). So when you add things like the S/C and exhaust the benefits of the intake are realized even more. However I don't think you'd see an increase over the short RAM intake during a dyno run, only when your engine compartment is closed and that short RAM mod is sucking hot air. Especially on a really warm day.

Danny, try to ignore the slams. Posts and opinions from people like you who REALLY know what they are doing is why I read and participate in these forums. I am DEFINITELY no mechanic and the little I know is from reading what knowlegable people post and the little experience I have gained over the last 40 years. Thanks! -JoeB

Also Danny never said anything about that CAI making huge gains but rather the opposite... Im not tryin to suck Danny's d* or anything, I just respect him and what he has done for the platform......

nm u didnt get what i said, dannys is a true CAI where most are in the fender(like mine) and that it didnt look like xerds did....

yes i have seen those specs with turbos over at b15sentra.net, i have alot of friends that own se-rs and spec v's and like i said before, they are nice cars... You guys got it good, haha, such a large a/m following

yes that is not too shabby at all, i would love to hit 14.6 anytime, but thats like comparing apples and oranges.... me (virtually no mods) vs. spec v's capable of running 14s with few mods, it is obvious who the victor is......

ps.. i hope that this is not coming out to be an argument between us, i just started here and i dont want to make enemies.. thanks!

JoeB got it right except for you don't need a hot day to see high intake temps with a short ram, just drive really hard and come to a stop and all the heat from the motor just soaks the engine compartment and is sucked up by a short ram.

I had a short ram and now a true cold air and there is no difference in power or temps on the dyno with the hood up. The difference is on the road where I could see temps of 120-130 with the shorty, now with the cai I am consistantly 5 degrees over ambient. I never tested a cai against a stock air box but I would guess you might see a few ponies from any aftermarket intake on the dyno if its designed/built half way decent.

hey eric.. wut kind of cai do you have?.... is it a custom aluminum piece?.. or the short ram with extension piece?... Because 5 degrees over ambient throughout driving is very very very appealing...
