3mz/1mz hybrid engine

I'm sure it is the higher bore. The compression should be the same since the stroke is the same and the head remains also the same. Maybe the bore makes the compression rate decrease a bit compare to a stock 1MZ.[/quote]

Well the compression on a 1mz is 10.5 to 1 and the 3mz is 10.8 to 1, well the way I see it, I just bore out the block .3 and I'm using the 3mz head gaskets which are twice as thick compared to the a 1mz, I'm thinking my compression has gone done.

omg, thats the ultimate setup. i love how the thicker head gaskets and increase to 3.3 allows you to run more boost. Kinda like a match made in heaven. Greg, im heading down there this weekend, any chance I can hang out with you, milt or anyone else free in the area? I wanna check out the car since I've always wanted to do something crazy myself. PM me bro!

Using nominal dimensions:
1MZ with 10.5:1 = 52.5cc combustion chamber volume (total of deck clearance, piston dome and head)
3MZ with 10.8:1 = 56.3cc
3MZ with 1MZ head with no changes = 11.51:1
Changes: head gasket thickness, dome shape, actual chamber in the head volume etc.

Yes, the boost will go down at the same speed because of the larger displacement, but also the ports are smaller in proportion to the new size, = more backpressure (this may be very small, not sure if it's significant). The change in max press should be 3.0 ÷ 3.3, or 90.5%.

seems to be the problem... What about going with a 7 psi pulley?

sounds about right on the most part.

and in the end, in addition to forced induction....there's no replacement for displacement!

The problem with are s/c is that its so small. I think you are going to see a wall very soon with the sc this way.

Yeah, but might have the solution for that soon enough.

either a adapter plate for the bigger gm supercharger or bore out all the runners?

let me get these so your actual compression right know is 11.5:1 if that right that sure is a HIGH compression doesnt it risky to run more boost if you got a compression that high?
just my 2 cents

naw, he can always send the s/c off to that place PaladinGreg had his redone. They can put in a heat exchanger and bore out the internals.

"bore out the internals"

What does that do?

boring the internals of the supercharger allows for more airflow through the chambers, this mod should be combined with a bored out throttle body for more airflow.
